Job description

We have an excellent opportunity to recruit a Tax Planning Manager to take up a role within our Preston head office. 

Key Responsibilities

Drafting of advice letters, reports and documentation on tax planning projects to include:

  • Company reorganisations (e.g. demergers, share for share exchanges, alphabet shares)
  • MBOs
  • Dividend planning
  • EIS and SEIS share issues
  • Management buy-outs
  • Share schemes including EMI and unapproved schemes
  • R&D Tax credits and patent box
  • Transfer pricing and country-by-country reporting
  • Senior Accounting Officer reporting requirements
  • Year-end tax planning
  • Supervision and development of staff (it is anticipated that our team will grow)
  • Ad hoc advisory work on CT, CGT and income tax issues. The role does not envisage IHT advisory work.

Review of corporation tax computations for groups and other relatively complex cases including:

  • Corporate Interest Restriction
  • Non-UK resident companies
  • Preparation/review of tax reports for clients, regarding CT comps.

Transaction support including

  • Due diligence (employment taxes, corporate taxes, potentially VAT)
  • Review of sale and purchase agreements, including tax warranties and indemnities

Marketing / Business Development support including:

  • Input to pitch/proposal documents
  • Attendance at pitch meetings, representing corporate tax

Experience, Skills and Qualifications required:

  • A broad knowledge of corporate, personal, business and capital taxes
  • Experience in delivering tax planning projects
  • Experience in managing a team, working to tight deadlines and helping to develop and train colleagues
  • Experience in taking the initiative on projects and spotting opportunities to generate additional work
  • The ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, and to tailor communication appropriately
  • The ability to work as part of a team
  • Strong commercial awareness and strong attention to detail
  • Flexibility in working practices to support client needs
  • A solutions focussed approach

  • Confidence/ability to give presentations to staff and clients
  • Confidence/ability to network with fellow professionals

  • CTA or if not, studying towards CTA
