Job description

The opportunity

We are looking for a Tax Associate, currently studying their ATT or CTA to join our friendly team in Peterborough. Our Peterborough office works regionally with Northampton and Milton Keynes, and has a broad portfolio of clients which means you will gain varied exposure and have the opportunity to progress with the firm.

Your responsibilities

Your focus should be on gaining knowledge and skill in order to deliver excellent client service. You will be given a small portfolio of clients to manage, and your goal is to support our less-complex clients with their tax compliance needs, ensuring that their tax returns are accurate, completed in accordance with the budget given to you by your manager, and submitted in accordance with the HMRC deadlines.

A great tax trainee is enthusiastic, and continually seeks out opportunities to grow their knowledge base and experience. You will develop your technical skills in this role and learn how to apply them in a business context. You will be an ambassador for the Firm and our brand.

As a successful Tax Associate, you will be able to deal confidently with junior level work, and you will begin to develop your skills in more complex areas. You will also be equipped with the skills to support the trainees joining the Firm, providing guidance and support as they start their journey with us.

Qualifications and skills

  • Ideally ATT qualified or qualified by experience
  • Studying towards CTA or equivalent
  • Practical and technical tax knowledge
  • Basic accounts knowledge
  • IT packages (Excel, Tax Software, Word)
  • Communication
  • Organisation

  • Problem solving
  • Ability to work well under pressure
  • Be positive and committed to MHA in dealings with both clients and staff
