Introducing Chloe, a finalist in the East Midlands Chamber Awards 2022!

With the East Midlands Chamber Awards kicking off later this year, we caught up with Chloe Heard, who is up for Apprentice of the Year. She gave us an insight into her journey with MHA so far.

“After completing my A levels, I joined MHA in 2021 as a Business Services Junior. Starting my second year, I will be working in Audit services, which is really exciting for me.

Working for MHA has allowed me to build great relationships with clients of all sizes. Furthermore, I have recently taken on the role of Vice Chair of our young professional network, Baker Tilly Innovate. The opportunity to present our ideas to the Baker Tilly board and be a part of something bigger has been really rewarding. Additionally, I am a member of the Engagement Committee and the Social Committee. These committees aim to improve our regional collaboration and resources. As a result, I have been able to gain a deeper understanding of other sectors and services while gaining exposure to offices throughout the region.

My biggest achievement with MHA so far is receiving an OPAS award. Feeling valued and appreciated by the firm has been the best feeling and has left me excited for what lies ahead.

With the start of my new adventure in Audit, I am looking forward to finishing my AAT and moving on to ACCA. I am looking forward to getting exposure to new service lines and working with larger clients. With a better understanding of the firm and our resources, I am eager to welcome the new trainees and offer them the same support I received when I started out.

Over the next five years, I hope to become a chartered accountant and then pursue a degree in applied accountancy. I would love to be in a leadership position and make a positive impact on the team.

It is my goal to inspire other young innovators that there is more to accountancy than numbers. Your network is expanded by gaining exposure to real-life business industries and getting to know people on a personal level. An accountant builds great relationships while supporting other businesses, whilst helping them grow and achieve their goals.”

MHA is also a finalist for two other awards, including Commitment to People, and Kai Taylor is also competing for Apprentice of the Year. Best wishes to Chloe and Kai for the night.
