Marios has had a distinguished career in both the private and public sectors, holding several high-profile positions that reflect his expertise in economics, investment, and international relations. From 2003 to 2008, he served as a member of the Council of Economic Advisers to the President of the Republic of Cyprus.
During this time, he was also a member of the Board of Cyprus Development Bank Ltd (2005–2008) and the Central Bank of Cyprus (April 2008 – December 2012). Between 2008 and 2016, he was a member of the Board of Directors and Treasurer of the Cyprus Investment Promotion Agency.
His involvement in the accounting profession has also been significant. Marios served as President of the International Business, Shipping and Foreign Investments Committee of ICPAC from 2008 to 2010. In 2011, he was elected to the EMEA Regional Advisory Council of Baker Tilly International, a position he continues to hold today.
From 2012 to March 2019, Marios was President of the Cyprus–Spain Business Association, under the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry. In March 2019, he was elected President of the Cyprus–Romania Business Association. He is a member of both the Chamber of Financial Auditors of Romania (CAFR) and the Body of Expert Accountants and Chartered Accountants in Romania (CECCAR).
In recognition of his service to international relations and economic collaboration, Marios was appointed Honorary Consul of the Republic of Romania in Cyprus in January 2014. In February 2015, he was appointed to the Board of the Employers and Industrialists Federation (OEB). In March 2022, he was awarded one of Romania’s highest national honours, The National Order for Faithful Service of the Rank of Knight, by the President of Romania.
Outside of his professional responsibilities, Marios enjoys taking long walks in natural environments, reading history books, and following football—particularly supporting his favourite local team. He also values spending quality time with his family and friends and finds peace by the sea.
