Phil joined MHA in December 2022 following the merger with Swansea firm, Gerald Thomas. He acts for a wide range of businesses providing specialist taxation advice. He has extensive experience of advising on the taxation consequences of transactions and of structuring transactions in a tax effective manner. Such advice has encompassed a wide range of transactions including:
- Research and development relief claims
- Business acquisitions and disposals
- Business exits and succession planning
- Business restructuring
- Employee share schemes
Phil also has considerable experience in dealing with HMRC enquiries.
Previous to his role as partner in Gerald Thomas, Phil was a H M Revenue & Customs Inspector of Taxes, having qualified as a fully trained Inspector in 1985. He became an Associate Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales in 1999.
