The corporate finance team at accountancy and advisory firm MHA has advised on a management buyout that has seen a leading network technology, connectivity and cyber security specialist secure investment for its next phase of growth.

YFM Equity Partners (YFM) has invested in The Networking People (TNP), which specialises in designing, implementing, and managing critical ICT network infrastructure, primarily serving the public sector.

The company has built a strong reputation for delivering secure, resilient, and high-performance connectivity solutions – underpinned by a consistently high standard of service – to local government, healthcare, education, and emergency services.

The investment by YFM will support TNP’s expansion plans, enhance its service offering, and continue delivering mission-critical network solutions to its growing client base.

The transaction facilitates a management buyout led by existing shareholders; managing director Scott Daniels and technical director Robin Williams, who will continue to drive the business forward with the backing of YFM. As part of this investment, Nigel Redwood, the former CEO of Nasstar, joins as chair.

MHA, an independent member firm of Baker Tilly International, advised the shareholders on the investment, providing corporate finance lead advisory services, including identifying YFM as private equity partner. MHA also provided tax advisory and due diligence support.

Scott Daniels, managing director at TNP, said: “This investment marks an exciting new chapter for TNP. With YFM’s backing, we can build on our strong foundation, expand our reach, and continue to provide the best possible network and security solutions to our clients. Our focus remains on delivering high-quality, high-reliability services that meet the evolving needs of public sector organisations across the UK.”

Dan Freed, partner at YFM Equity Partners, added: “TNP has established itself as a trusted provider of network solutions in a market where security, reliability, and expertise are critical. We are excited to partner with Scott, Robin and the team to help them realise their ambitious growth plans. With a strong reputation, a highly skilled team, and increasing demand for secure and resilient network infrastructure, TNP is well positioned for future success.”

MHA’s corporate finance advisory team on the deal was led by Andrew Feeke  and Robbie Taberner with support from Oliver Toseland. The tax team on the deal was led by Rachel Marsdin.

Robbie Taberner, corporate finance manager at MHA, said: “It’s been a pleasure to advise TNP on the next phase of its growth journey through this investment from YFM, who we identified as a potential investor at an early stage due to its expertise in working with growing, tech-focused businesses."

“It’s achieved a great result for all involved and there is a very exciting future ahead for the business under its existing management team, who will benefit from the additional experience and resources provided by YFM.”

YFM has a strong track record of investing in high-growth UK businesses, particularly in technology and managed services. This latest investment aligns with YFM’s strategy of backing strong management teams in businesses with significant growth potential.

The transaction for YFM was led by Dan Freed, Oliver Wheatley, Steve Harrison and Jamie Roberts.

YFM was advised by Knight Corporate Finance (corporate finance and customer referencing); Hill Dickinson (legal); Cowgills (financial); Megabuyte (commercial); Claritas (tax); Cyber DueDil (cyber); Michael Jervis (technical); Confidas (organisational); Lockton (insurance). Forbes provided legal advice to the seller.

“It’s achieved a great result for all involved and there is a very exciting future ahead for the business under its existing management team, who will benefit from the additional experience and resources provided by YFM.”
