Not for Profit eNews
The charity and wider not-for-profit sector continue into 2026 with familiar pressures in sharp focus. Fundraising remains vital but increasingly scrutinised, with expectations rising around transparency, supporter experience, and the wellbeing of those delivering fundraising activity. Alongside this, governance and reporting requirements continue to tighten, meaning boards and leadership teams need to keep policies, oversight, and public-facing communications under regular review. At the same time, the external environment is evolving - both in terms of the tone of public debate and the pace of regulatory and employment law change - requiring organisations to balance day-to-day delivery with longer-term resilience and risk management.
In this edition of Not-for-Profit eNews, we highlight a selection of developments that reflect those themes. We cover fresh thinking on safeguards where commission-based fundraising is used and share recent reminders from the fundraising regulator on maintaining clear, fair donor journeys - particularly through online platforms. We also look at a new sector campaign encouraging positive civic action in response to hostility and division, and report on improving compliance with legal fundraising reporting requirements, while encouraging charities to keep disclosures specific and complete. Beyond fundraising, we note a government review relevant to the sector and provide a high-level overview of upcoming employment law developments - prompting not-for-profit employers to keep workforce policies and planning under review.
