MHA, the UK member firm of Baker Tilly International, has marked this year’s World Earth Day (22nd April) with the launch of its 2024 Sustainability ESG Impact Statement.

The Sustainability ESG Impact Statement aims to reflect on our ESG commitments over the previous year whilst also looking forward to the year ahead as we move into a new financial year.

To recognise the passion our people have displayed towards ESG and our commitment to addressing and tackling climate action whilst reducing our emissions on our path to becoming a net zero organisation by 2030, the firm has planted a tree for every employee within our MHA Virtual Forest which we have launched in partnership with Ecologi.

Trees will be planted with several reforestation projects around the world, to recognise World Earth Day and acknowledge our global presence as part of Baker Tilly International.

We will continue to grow our MHA Virtual forest through our initiative to plant a tree for every new employee who joins our firm going forward.

Mark Lumsdon-Taylor, partner at MHA said:

Our people are at the core of our sustainability ESG vision and it’s vital to us that everybody believes in our shared social and environmental values as this is vital to achieving our goals.

Working in partnership with Ecologi in planting a tree for every employee now and in the future, is just one tangible way with which we can practice what we preach when it comes to mitigating our environmental impact, whilst actively reducing our emissions to reach net zero status."

Linda Adams, Head of Partnerships, Ecologi, said:

We are delighted to be partnering with MHA, planting trees around the world on the brand’s behalf.

Not only is the company committed to enhancing biodiversity through our reforestation projects, but it also has a broader commitment towards achieving net zero.

Ecologi is committed to supporting MHA on their net zero journey and we look forward to providing them with our continued support."

What does World Earth Day mean for our staff?

As part of our World Earth Day celebrations we have also spoken to a number of colleagues from across the firm to share their views on what ESG means to them, why it is important in their work and personal life, and what areas of ESG resonate to them the most.

Rachael Dagger, National ESG Manager at MHA, said:

Understanding how Sustainability ESG is becoming a growing priority for our people in their own words is inspirational as it demonstrates that right across the business our people are committed to our ESG vision and understand the vital role that it plays for future generations."
