London Tech Week 2025 offered an invaluable platform for our Partners to engage with cutting-edge developments across the technology sector, gain fresh insights, and explore emerging opportunities in AI, scaleups, and innovation ecosystems.

Key Takeaways

Sector Insights and Networking Opportunities

London Tech Week offered a clear lens into the fast-evolving tech landscape, particularly around AI, funding dynamics, and the UK's ambitions to position itself as a global technology hub.

Discussions highlighted the Oxford–Cambridge supercluster — sometimes called Europe’s Silicon Valley — where the UK’s strengths in life sciences and pharmaceuticals are being leveraged to scale innovation.

Our Insight

"Peter Kyle’s keynote really struck a chord. The UK excels at nurturing early-stage startups – but bridging the gap to large-scale funding remains a challenge we must collectively address, said Jason Mitchell, Partner at MHA."

Life sciences and pharmaceuticals featured strongly, with discussions highlighting how AI, biotech, and advanced manufacturing are converging to drive healthcare innovation. The UK’s strengths in data-driven drug discovery, clinical trials, and precision medicine position it well for global leadership in the sector.

Our Insight

"What stood out was how rapidly AI is reshaping the life sciences space — from cutting R&D timelines to transforming diagnostics. It’s a pivotal moment for UK healthcare innovation"

Yogan Patel, Partner and MedTech, Pharma and Life Sciences Sector Lead at MHA

Artificial Intelligence: Promise and Challenge

AI dominated much of the conversation, underscoring both the excitement and uncertainty surrounding its long-term impact.

A key distinction was drawn between business using AI to enhance existing processes and the development of monetisable AI solutions.

The Prime Minister’s Advisor on AI Opportunities, Matt Clifford highlighted the urgency of upskilling the UK workforce to harness AI confidently as it evolves, turning potential job displacement into new opportunities.

The impact of AI on cybersecurity was also a key focus, particularly how it can be harnessed to create a safer digital environment and what steps businesses should take now to defend against emerging threats.

One particularly forward-looking concept discussed was "agentic wallets" — a model where consumers control their own data rather than organisations harvesting it.

This shift signals a move towards greater privacy and data ownership. The consensus amongst us here at MHA was that AI is on the cusp of a transformative explosion, particularly with profound potential in healthcare.

Our Insight

"AI is no longer a distant concept — it’s here, reshaping industries. The challenge is cutting through the noise to understand real impact, especially for clients outside the tech bubble"

Alicia Crisp, Partner at MHA

"The conversation around data ownership was fascinating. Shifting power to consumers will be a game-changer for both privacy and business models alike"

Jason Mitchell, Partner at MHA

The international presence at London Tech Week underscored the global nature of today’s innovation ecosystem.

Delegations from across the world showcased their local strengths, reinforcing the idea that technological progress is an interconnected, borderless effort.

Our Insight

"The global participation really underscored how interconnected tech innovation is. It’s not just a UK story, it’s a worldwide evolution"

Alicia Crisp, Partner at MHA
