Not for Profit eNews - July 2025
In this edition we highlight some of the key announcements of the Chancellor’s recent Spending Review. Whilst there is some encouraging news for charities working in areas such as homelessness, many charities will continue to face challenges, especially those working with local authorities.
Such challenges are already being felt by thousands of charities across the British Isles, and we reflect on the Scottish charity sector in particular following the release of the Scottish Council for Voluntary Organisations’ ‘wave 10 report’.
Resilience, be it financial or personal, is required by the sector perhaps more than ever, and so we highlight recent research in this area by a specialist Not for Profit coaching firm, Bird, who have recently worked with The Association of Chief Executives of Voluntary Organizations (ACEVO).
A way of addressing some of these challenges could be to tap into the 140 million hours of employer-supported volunteering time that went unused in the last year – one of several important findings from recent research published by the Royal Volunteer Service in collaboration with the Centre for Economics and Business Research. The Service are launching a new volunteering platform to help charities and volunteers.
As always, if you wish to discuss any of these matters in detail with us, do get in touch.
