Joshua Williams

Tax Director

Joshua is Big Four trained and has also worked within independent Scottish accountancy practices prior to joining MHA. He brings over 15 years of experience advising individuals, business owners and trustees on personal taxation matters, covering both compliance and complex advisory work.

He advises across all areas of personal taxation, with particular expertise in income tax, capital gains tax, inheritance tax and succession planning. His experience also includes residence matters, trust tax planning, Land and Buildings Transaction Tax, and supporting clients through HMRC tax investigations. Joshua works with clients across a broad range of sectors and is known for delivering clear, commercial and proactive advice in an increasingly complex tax environment.

His work ranges from the effective use of available reliefs through to more sophisticated tax-efficient structuring, including the use of Family Investment Companies and trust structures. He regularly advises business owners on remuneration strategies and the structuring of their corporate and personal affairs to ensure their commercial, family and long-term objectives are aligned.

Joshua is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland and was recognised by ICAS in 2019 as one of the Top 100 Chartered Accountants under 35.

He is passionate about helping clients navigate the evolving tax landscape, providing straightforward advice while ensuring full compliance with reporting and filing obligations.

Outside of work, Joshua enjoys cooking, travelling and watching cricket. He spends much of his time with his young family, particularly his three-year-old son who keeps him firmly on his toes. He is currently attempting to learn Lithuanian, although he admits his son already speaks and understands it better than he does.
